I have one other issue, but I don't think it's your code. When I mouse over the stars to cast a rating or to view an article the stars have this distortion. It almost looks like water splashing down into the stars, quite off-putting. This happens with the extravote stars and your top extravote stars, so I'm thinking it may be a conflict with the helix 2 template I'm using.

Have you seen that kind of distortion before?
